Prompt: Canon (It's My Turn) – Red (I reached out)

"Haru?"

Haru, his Haru, the Haru who Rin found so damn hard to read, had his face morphed into an expression of pure fury, his eyes blazing like blue fire. Rin swallowed loudly, his eyes stinging as he grit his teeth together, trying to forced words to come out of his mouth.

"No, Rin," Haru's voice was quiet, but Rin couldn't help but flinch at the underlying seething tone, "Enough is enough,"

He shook his head fervently, "No! Haru, please-"

Haru turned, walking away and the sight of his retreating back made Rin want to break down. The words wouldn't come out, the ones he needed to make the boy stay, to stop him from leaving and Rin didn't know what to do. He just needed to speak to Haru, and to tell the boy how important he was to Rin. If he walked away, he'd never know; he had to know.

"Haru!" Frantic, Rin reached out his arm, fingertips brushing the soft cotton of Haru's jersey as he pulled away, "Haru!"

The dark haired boy stopped, turning his neck back, "It's my turn to walk away,"

Rin jolted awake, eyes snapping open as he sat up. Chest heaving, he ran a hand through his hair, blinking as he tried to orient himself, his heart busy thudding away in his chest. Casting a glance around the room, he took in deep breaths, calming down at the sight of familiar surroundings.

Next to him, the dark haired boy stirred, blue eyes slowly blinking awake, "Rin?"

"Haru," The name slipped from his lips in a breathy sigh, his eyes stinging.

"What's wrong?" He rubbed at his eyes, sitting up with the slightest furrow in his brow.

"It's nothing," Rin could feel his heart slowing, no longer trying to beat out of his chest, "I just- had a nightmare,"

Haru didn't say anything, just continued to watch the redhead with his eyes concerned. He placed a hand on top of Rin's, and it was all it took for the words to come spilling out.

"You left me," He turned away, unable to look the dark haired boy in the eye, "I reached out and you weren't there,"

Rin could hear him shifting, startled when he felt arms wrap around him.

"I'm here now," His breath was warm against Rin's ear, sending shivers running down his spine.

He turned his neck, facing Haru's earnest eyes, "You're here now,"
