I stood there pathetically as my husband of two years and father of my three month-old son hastily threw off his worn t-shirt and reached for a black shirt with his initials stitched in with authority. It was midnight and rain was pouring down like there would be no tomorrow but he still was leaving.
Jacob avoided my eyes, something he'd done since we were kids when he knew he'd done something I wouldn't like, and looked up with finality as the last of his police uniform was on. I sighed and sat down on the edge of our bed, which was funny since I was the only one who ever slept in it anymore. The springs creaked and I mentally reminded myself that we still needed to scrap up the money to get a mattress that didn't feel like it would fall apart the moment someone even breathed over it.
Another little something Jacob had promise to take care of, even if it was becoming startlingly obvious that I was the done who would to do something about it.
"Come on, Bells. It's just one night." His voice was supposed to sound soothing but I'd heard it too many times to start believing it actually did any good.
"It's always one night, Jake-"
"They're movie stars, Bells. A fan girl gets too close and they freak the fuck out. It'll be done within a hour."
Before I could even respond, he kissed me on the forehead and walked out of our tiny bedroom, already giving orders into his cellphone. The porch door slammed somewhere downstairs and as if right on cue, a baby's whimpering cries instantly hit my ears.
Things had to get better than this. They just had to.
You'll need to review to actually see Edward make a appearance in this! ;)
