Galloping Girls

Bright sunny day, Ashleigh walked out of her new home. "Mom. I really want to go back home." Ashleigh said, picking up a halter. "I know. but we can't. This is out home now." Her mother replied. "What if I don't make friends?" Ashleigh said. "You will." Her mother said. Ashleigh sighed as she saw her father pull in with a horse for Ashleigh, and a strange girl next to him. As they got out, Ashleigh walked off the porch, down to greet them. "Hi dad. what kind of horse?" Ashleigh said. "Thoroughbred." Her father said, backing the horse out. Ashleigh eyed the horse. "She's great!" Ashleigh said in awe. "Yes, I thought so. But-she needs extra care, and don't go nuts." Her father warned. "Why?" Ashleigh asked. "My neighbors abused her. And she won't trust anyone." The girl said. Ashleigh looked over. "Ashleigh, this is Abby. Abby, Ashleigh." The girls shook hands. "Nice to meet you." Ashleigh said. "Have a horse? Or ride?" Ashleigh said. "I'm scared of horses." Abby answered. "How.I mean how can you? They are so nice." Ashleigh said. "Abby got bucked off and was in a comma for a week." Her father said. "I have been scared to death ever since." Abby said. "Do you want to ride again?" Ashleigh asked. Abby nodded with a smile. "I do! But my mom doesn't want me as well." Abby's voice trailed off. "Why?" Ashleigh asked. "My father was riding with me, and his horse got kicked, and the horse spooked, and she crashed into the rail, and didn't make it." Ashleigh felt guilty. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean." Ashleigh said. "Not your fault." Abby replied. Ashleigh stared leading the mare into the barn. Abby followed her. "You need to meet Katherine and Kelsey." Abby said. "Are they nice?" Ashleigh asked. "Of course!" Abby replied. "Nia isn't though. you might not like her." She added.
