hold your peace
The water was frigid, just cold enough to snap Gus back into reality, to keep tears from falling on his face. Amber eyes glared back at the reflection before him, only moving to follow Billy as he came inside.
"Still here?" The brunette man grumbled to his long time friend. "I've been looking everywhere for you man!"
"Well, sorry, Billy, but I don't think I can do this shit" "This...it's just too big a step for me."
"But...but this is Ash! You can't just turn your back on your best friend like that! When's the last time he's done that to you?"
Gus sighed. "...never has and never will."
"That's right." Billy's hand patted Gus's back in hopes that it'd get him out of this rut. "Which is why I really know you can and should do this. I wanna see the Gus who'd leap into harm's way to save Ash, not a sniveling wimp who'd run away like a scared little bitch."
"Okay, I think the 'bitch' thing has been way overdone over the years." Gus smirked back at Billy. "It's been what, ten years?"
Billy laughed, ignoring that comment. "By the way, nice tux."
"I knew ya'd say that, Mr. Blue-Looks-So-Much-Better-On-You," Gus replied, eyeing the black suit that he originally wanted that Billy wore. He smoothed his black hair back before confronting his immediate fears.
On the way outside, Billy playfully pushed Gus forward, causing him to nearly lose his balance. The brunette took his place at the front before Gus could chase after him.
"Gus, watch out!" Gentle hands braced themselves for impact against Gus's shoulders.
"Oh, Ash..." Gus dipped his head downwards only slightly-such a relief from all the times he had to bend downwards in the past. He smiled at the bouquet of roses in Ash's hands. blood red was perfect for his wife lol, goes great with the white tuxedo he wore.
Ash returned the smile. "I'm glad you're okay." Lovingly, he took Gus's hand and kissed the ring on his finger. "You know, we've been through so much together first friends and then boyfriends and now this..."
"...And we'll do it all over again if we had too." Gus kissed Ash's cheek. With joined hands, the two marched to the end of the aisle, listening to the chorus of cheering and the tears.
