Hey everyone. This was written for September Event: Back to School on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I used prompt 17. (character) Rowena Ravenclaw. No warnings with this one. I hope you all enjoy Her Role Model.
As long as Helena Ravenclaw can remember she has always looked up to her mother. She strives in everything to be what the daughter of Rowena Ravenclaw can be. So it is no surprise when she is sorted into her mother's house when she attends Hogwarts. Her mother beams a smile of pride and Helena can't help but smile too. Rowena's approval is all she wants in the world.
When her mother pulls her aside to give her a congratulatory hug after the feast she is kind of surprised. Not that her mother didn't hug her often she did. It's just that Helena never thought of her mother worrying about her being put into another house. She figured her mother knew enough to know that Helena would always be sorted into Ravenclaw.
"Congratulations," she says aloud as though address all the new student but Helena knows she mainly addressing her, "and welcome to Hogwarts. I hope you will learn much during your time here."
As she leaves an excited chatter goes around the table. Including not only the first years but the others as well. They aren't used to Professor Ravenclaw addressing the table at random.
"Do you know who that was?" the excited blonde girl sitting next to her chirps. "That was..."
"Rowena Ravenclaw," Helena supplies easily. "I know." She's not sure if she should reveal who she is to Professor Ravenclaw. Or if she should just let it go and have the others treat her like one of them. She goes with the latter either way.
"Isn't it exciting that she decided to come talk to us? The rumor around the table is that one of us is Rowena Ravenclaw's daughter."
The other's girls chatter drones on as she watches Rowena watching her. Maybe one of these days she'd be a teacher just like her mother. Maybe one of these days she'd be sitting up there too. With that thought fresh in her mind she follows the rest of her house from the Great Hall to her new home away from home excited to start the year. Excited to become like her role model. Her mother.
