Lying on his side, Lex was dimly aware of his brother kneeling beside him, yelling, "Mom! Dad! Over here!"

Stripping off his jacket, the elder boy covered him with it. "You're gonna be ok, Lex. Dad'll fix everything, you'll see."

The sounds of stalks crushed by running feet heralded their parents' arrival.

"Oh honey!" Without thought to her dress, their mother dropped beside them, gathering her youngest child into her arms, humming soothingly.

"Dad, Lex is gonna be ok, right?" Looking up, Bruce watched his father's face intently.

"He'll be fine, son," Thomas Wayne promised firmly. "He'll be just fine."
