A Name of My Own

disclaimer: i don't own Sailor Moon.

"What do you mean, you don't have a name? Everyone has a name." A young blond spoke aloud, seemingly to herself. She was seated on a swing in an empty park. Or rather almost empty as the unseen spirit spoke once more.

I suppose I did at one time. But not now. Now I simply exsist.

The young girl tilted her head and frowned, deep in though.

"Why?" a deep chuckle followed her child-like question. He reached out to tug on ribbon in her hair but stopped. He had no physical form. He could no longer touch anything, let alone this child of light. The young girl looked in the direction that his voice had been coming from then repeated her question.

It is my punishment. For what though I do not know. I can't remember. My punishment is to exsist for eternity with the knowledge that I failed at something important but never to know what exactly I failed at. I am to be alone forever.

She thought on this a while as she slowly started to push the swing back and forth. It didn't seem fair for him to be in such a predicament. Look at her, she had failed to protect her princess- twice now- and the first time it led to the destruction of an entire civilization. She had failed her senshi, and the last five test in math. She has also failed at every attempt to hold onto love. But she hadn't been turned to a spirit doomed to wonder the Earth for always. What had he done that was so much worse than her failures?

"But, you're not alone." If he had a form he would have given the girl a look to say 'are you crazy? Of course I'm alone', but her next words stopped that thought and any like it.

" You're not alone, because I'm here." Yes she was here wasn't she. And she was the first to ever sense him, let alone talk to him. Even the very gifted priestess hadn't been able to sense him. It had been this little beam of sunshine. Why should she be able to connect with him? Was she just as alone- even when surround by all of her friends- as he was? Had she experienced the same feeling of failure? Perhaps, but not likely.

Yes. You are here.

They sat there in comfortable silence, watching the setting sun and changing sky. It almost felt familiar to them to be this way. But she broke the silence.

"Would you stay with me?"

of course.

"For always?" she sounded uncertain, as if he would leave at any moment.

For always.

"Takehiko."

What's that?

"You said you don't have a name. Everyone deserves a name, don't you think?"

Takehiko.

"Yeah. It means Soldier Prince. I think it fits."

Thank you, Minako.

"Your welcome." She looked over and for a moment saw a beautiful pair of green eyes. Green eyes that she has seen many times, in her dreams. Yes, she would stay with him for always, and he with her.
