Backing against the wall, Hermione watched the Dementors approach as blood trickled down her cheek. She was dimly aware that she needed to fight, needed to defend herself...

She lifted her want, picturing a face, and spoke. "Expecto Patronum!"

The patronus formed into her husband and Hermione slumped down, breathing slowly, watching it stand before her. He was always her protector, no matter what form or circumstance.

She felt one of the others kneel down, tend to her wounds, but she kept watch over her patronus. Harry was the strongest part of her...as she of him.

Truly her protector.
