Naruto growled lightly in frustration as he flipped through the rather thick book. His narrowed cobalt eyes scanned the pages, before turning it sharply. This continued for a few more minutes when Sasuke found him in the exact same position on the floor, legs crossed, hunched over the dictionary. Raising an eyebrow in confusion, Sasuke kicked him lightly before asking, "What're you doing, dobe?"
The blonde whirled his head around, tensing at the kick, before realizing who it was. "Looking in the dictionary."
Sasuke's rolled his eyes. "No crap genius. What're you looking for?"
Naruto mumbled something while turning a page.
"Repeat that."
"…ve."
"Little louder."
"Love, alright?"
"Why the hell are you looking in the dictionary for that?"
A faint blush appeared on whiskered cheeks. "No reason."
Sasuke looked at him in disbelief. "You don't even like to be near huge books like that, so I know you wouldn't look that up for no reason."
Naruto pouted slightly. "I don't need you and your logic."
"…What's it say anyways?"
Naruto looked back up at him in confusion.
Sasuke refused to meet the blue eyes. "…About love. What's it say?"
The blush on Naruto's face vanished to be replaced with a small grin. He simply asked, "Which one?"
Sasuke peered over Naruto's shoulder to read the definition himself. How many definitions could they get?! There were twenty-eight of them!
A profoundly tender and passionate affection for another person
A feeling of warm, personal attachment for a parent, friend or child
sexual passion or desire
Sasuke stopped there, his pale cheeks slightly pink. Naruto's grin grew. He knew exactly where and why his best friend had stopped.
"Why so embarrassed?"
The onyx glare had no effect on the blonde as he stood up, stretching languorously.
"You did that on purpose!"
Naruto looked at him innocently. "Did what?"
"This whole thing."
Naruto hid the smile with turning towards the window. "I did no such thing."
"Snarky bastard."
"Insulting yourself is bad for your health, Sasuke-chan." Naruto told him, the smile no longer hidden.
"Do you even know what snarky means?"
The blonde pointed to the dictionary. "It's a synonym for condescending."
"When'd you get so smart?"
"When'd you get so dumb?"
Naruto grabbed a comic book of his far too large stack and curled up on an armchair, flipping open to a dog-eared page.
Sasuke glared at him half-heartedly, straightening from his position over the dictionary and headed towards the kitchen, but an idea struck him and he headed over to the blonde. Naruto looked up at him curiously. Sasuke swiftly pressed his lips to Naruto's, which were surprisingly sweet. He pulled away and said, "Definition number nineteen," before walking back to the kitchen.
