Worth Fighting For
"It won't work out."
He gave off his usual smirk. That look got under her skin, but it was one of the things she loved about him.
"We're soldiers in the battlefield," he began. "I don't see why it can't."
He had her back and she had his. They mixed well together, they made a good team. But he was so much more than that.
"And that's why it's precisely wrong...!" her hands opened. "It's unprofessional, Optimus wouldn't approve."
"No one has to know." Was he always going to reply with wisecracks to her?
"Imagine what it will do to Bulk... to Jack, to Miko. We'll be putting them last every time."
"Bulk would never give up on us, and I'm sure the kids would understand as well."
A frown was on her face. With every rebuttal she gave, he took them down one by one. He always knew how to ease what was on her mind.
She looked down. All this work trying to close herself off from feeling. So many wasted years came and went... She build all her walls. She closed all her doors. But with Wheeljack... she couldn't keep it closed.
Looking up, she realized he was in front of her.
"What if you were... offline in the field? I... I don't even know what to think about that."
She felt his arms around her, hearing the hum of his spark against his chest.
She closed her eyes. "I don't want to loose you, Wheeljack..."
Out of all the despair the war gave, Wheeljack was the only good thing she had.
"No matter what happens..." he began. "Let's enjoy what days we have, and we'll let the future decide for itself."
A smile slowly was on her face.
She felt his lips on her forehead. "As long as I'm here, 'Cee... I will never stop fighting for you."
