"I can't go through with this wedding. Ted, I just can't." Robin said shakily, trying desperately to stop the tears that were beginning to run down her face. "I don't think I'm ready for this."
"You know, despite how painful it may have been, I watched you two fall in love. I watched the one guy who I never thought would commit to anyone fall hopelessly in love with the one girl who hated relationships just as much. And I watched you guys wrestle with those feelings you had for years. And then things came together and you both got past those parts of yourself that were too afraid and you got here. You love him, Robin. You love him enough to have said "yes" , leaving the single life you loved behind. Don't let the nerves ruin everything. Getting here was hard, and although climbing out that window might seem easy, dealing with the consequences of it, losing what you have with him, that'll be harder."
Robin gave a small laugh, glancing out the window. "I wouldn't call climbing through a window and down a drain pipe in a wedding dress 'easy'." After a pause, she took a deep breath and thanked him, "You're a good best man Ted."
"Just hope I crushed the floral arrangements." he smiled, looking back at her, "You're ready for this."
"I don't know anymore.. I mean, I love Barney. The fact that I can say it says a lot. I really love him. I love his jokes and his smile and I love the fact that after sleeping with nearly every women in New York he chose me. I love the effort he makes and his gestures, even though I was never really into that romantic stuff. I even love the tricks and the plays and the lies because he only uses them to surprise me anymore. And I love that he gets me, and he understands that I am a mess and loves me anyways. I love that he's a mess. I love everything about him" she said quickly "but it doesn't mean I'm ready. It just means, I'm insane."
"You're in love. And, so help me Robin Scherbatsky, you're going to walk down that aisle and marry that beautiful man."
"I can't." She said, stronger this time. "I can't do this."
"You love him, you just said-"
She cut him off. "I know. It's just, I just said the word 'love' like a hundred times, and it still sounds so weird to me."
"Well anything sounds weird if you say it a hundred times."
Robin laughed, despite the tears that still rested in her eyes. "What makes you think that I can do this."
"You just told me why." he said.
She gave a small smile, took a deep breath and swung the door open to find Barney waiting on the other side.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, surprised.
"Waiting for you." He smiled, glancing up and down her dress and taking in how beautiful she looked.
"I don't think you're supposed to see me in my dress before the wedding."
"Robin, we had sex over a hundred times before getting even close to married. We're not really the kind of couple to worry about tradition, now are we?" He paused, "So was it true?"
"Was what true?" she asked.
"All that stuff you said about me."
"You heard?!"
He nodded, smiling. "but you can say it again if you want."
She shook her head, gave him a little smile and said "You're an idiot."
