Jack sat at his desk drawing when the classroom door opened. The kids around him shifted in their seats and whispered amongst themselves, probably about the new teacher. Jack didn't care. If he, a genius, were to be stuck in a school full of regulars, he'd go about it however he pleased. He finished drawing his design and started writing out the schematics for the helicopter pack he'd invented.

A hushed silence fell over the class as the sound of footsteps headed through the aisle, and a dark shadow fell across his paper. A hand scooped the paper up, and Jack followed it up to the man's face. As his eyes landed on long black hair, strong cheekbones and almost reptilian eyes, he felt a strange familiarity. The pony-tailed hair was a bit off but something about the man was uncanny.

The man looked up at him, smiled and said

"This is very interesting." Jack didn't respond for a moment, just stared into the almost golden eyes as if he could glean something from them.

"…Do I know you?" He asked slowly.

"Maybe we met in a past like, Jack," The man gave Jack a look that gave him goosebumps. He wasn't sure what it meant, or if he liked it, but he became annoyed when his classmates started tittering.

"…Whatever." He mumbled, taking his paper back from the teacher's hand.

The shadow disappeared as the man walked to the head of the room and started writing his on the chalkboard.

"My name is Chase Young, and I'm your new teacher."

For being such a genius, Jack never wondered how the man had known his name.
