Carolyn Barek had two great regrets in her life. The first was never going to Germany with her best friend in college. It probably would have been a Spring Break to remember. The second was Tommy Spitzer. Sometimes she found herself wondering if there was more she could have done for him. Maybe if she had driven him to those meetings herself he wouldn't have run away like he did. Or maybe if she had been a little more of a hard ass, she could have straightened him out. Lately, she didn't think about Tommy so much. She had other things on her mind than regrets.
Mike Logan had more than two great regrets in his life. Hell, his list of regrets could reach from his apartment in the city to Staten Island and back. One he thought about pretty often lately was why he didn't figure out his partner was a fascinating woman who could make even the dullest things interesting. He could spend all day listening to anything she talked about. He really should have noticed she was more than pretty earlier.
Hindsight is twenty-twenty, but that still means before you needed glasses before hand.
