Set after Wannabe shooting but before Pain in the heart , I just pretend it never happened.
She was sitting there next to him.Never leaving him alone, never ever letting him out of sight again.She had been sitting there for hours. She didn't dare to glance at the clock which was ticking .Holding his IV free hand between hers she tried nott o fall asleep. Doctors had said it would take time until he will be in concius agan but she kept on hoping.

Hope was all that was left to her. She couldn't lose him. Just couldn't. And the fear of thinking at this was cold, almost suffocating her.
She was waiting. Waiting for him to wake up to apologize for everything and hoping he'll forgive her.

She had laugh. For the first time she had felt completely free, she'd fun. She was laughing with friends, singing to them from the bottom of her heart and now she suffered concequinces of what will happen if you're offguard.
It should have been her.She kept replaying the incident in her head over and over again, thinking where did she go wrong? Why?She leaned her head onto the bed, tears falling from her eyes again.
„Bones?" softer than a whisper but she knew he was awake.
She glanced up seeing Booth watching down at her. He tried to smile but then his smile turned into the grimace of pain.
„Booth! Don't speak, you need rest."
„Were you crying because of me, Bones? Were you?" He asked noticing they were still holding hands but didn't dare to pull away.
„Yes, Booth….I'm sorry."She said quietly , tears still falling from her eyes.

Booth looked at his partner.He wondered if h ehad ever seen her so crushed, so vunerable, so hurt.
„Why are you sorry?" He asked , because he really didn't understand what she was talking about.
„ It should have been me! I should be lying here instead of you. And I was so scared that…." She couldn't finish her sentence but it didn't matter anyway. He knew.
