Scream
Warning: darkfic with semi-mature themes. Don't read if you don't like fics like this.
The distress of the would-be mugger victim down the street.
The worry of the dyslexic schoolboy as he pondered changing his math test score to something passable and wouldn't merit a pounding from his father.
The fatal sorrow of that teenage girl up on the roof who was debating taking a step or two forward.
Take all that and more, mix it together, and you have a very pained Cajun kneeling on the floor and screaming.
It had been happening for weeks now. He would catch whispers of emotions- Etienne's nervousness at his Tilling, Julien's fury at his impending marriage to Belladonna.
He thought it was fun. With his new ability, every time he kissed Bella, he would feel tingles of her pleasure as well as his own. And when the clothes started falling- well, it didn't take much effort to figure out why he enjoyed his heightened senses so much.

And at that moment, the responsibility was coming around to bite him on the ass. Hard.
He writhed in mental torment as his power strengthened unbearably. The fact that he was in an unfriendly neighborhood just made it worse. A few blocks down the avenue, a young man lay bleeding from the latest gang war. As he died, his pain and guilt- mother will worry- seeped into the slew of negative emotions killing Remy LeBeau.
Mental screaming reverberated around his brain, adding to the confusion and agony wrapping around him and constricting him like a python.
He shuddered uncontrollably as he forced down his empathy. It was like someone had slipped a pair of tinted glasses over his (emphatic) eyes. He saw the world differently, in terms of emotions and feelings instead of the dull routine of normal people. Technicolor versus monochrome.
As the shrieking in his head gradually came to a halt, he shakily stood up and tried vainly to blot out everything else. Holding on to the nearest city block for support, he cringed as he stumbled home.
The wall he touched began to glow a fiery magenta...
