SUMMARY: Jack gets a friendly visit on a summer afternoon.

The faint knocking could be heard through the house and Jack rose from the couch, groaning. Captain Samantha O'Neill made a protesting sound in her sleep as her pillow suddenly disappeared, but settled as soon as he bestowed a kiss on her lips.

After he quickly stretched he walked over to the door and opened it.

To see nothing.

He looked left and right only to notice something wrong. Everyone on the street looked like they were frozen to the ground and were staring towards his house.

Suddenly he heard a small voice say his name. "O'Neill."

He looked down only to see Thor standing on his doorstep, with a small disk, loaded with Guiness, floating above the ground next to him. "I have arrived for our scheduled social gathering with the required alcoholic beverages." he gestured towards the beer.

Numb from shock Jack moved to the side and let his little buddy inside.

ONE MINUTE SOONER

Traffic practically stopped and people were frozen in their tracks, some even ran off screaming, as Thor walked down the sidewalk of a lovely suburban street on a warm Saturday afternoon. Next to him an anti-gravity disk was floating, loaded with bottles of Guiness.

He was on his way to Jack and Sam's house, as per his invitation by O'Neill for an evening of socializing, drinking beer and generally having a good time. True, the invitation had been for Jack's cabin where Thor would've had to beam them both, but circumstances beyond his control had prevented him that, so this arrangement would have to do.

He spared an amused glance towards the nearest human who upon eye contact fled screaming into her house and thought. 'Humans. Such children.'

Upon arriving at the house he knocked (he was too short to ring the bell) and waited for Jack to open the door.

When Jack recovered enough to move to the side Thor entered the dwelling, trying to figure out how to explain the fact that he had walked to the house in the middle of the day thus revealing the best kep secret in the world, instead of beaming Jack out of it and then them both to the cabin.

He wasn't sure that the true reason that their attempt at trying to adapt human technology to their own, in this case a GPS navigational system, had failed and after having been directed all over the western hemisphere he had run out of gas just a mile away; would fly. He was still annoyed at himself for having removed the Asgard navigational system in order to install this one.

After all, humans were pretty touchy about their technology and especially their satellite tech, which was the highest level of technology they had.

If only they would finally realize that their GPS N.S.'s were crap, landing a person everywhere but at the target, and go back to maps.

He still had some maps from Eric The Red stashed away and he was sure that the humans, once they'd realize their technology's flaws, would accept them.

Perhaps he should offer them to Jack?
