I wrote this ages ago, as you will probably be able to tell because of the pairings, but enjoy:
A family movie night at the Doyle's from Christian's point of view.
The living room looks actually perfect; the whole family is here, including Leslie, Des and Walter and nobody's fighting. I like it. There's a film on the TV, I think it's Titanic but I've been making popcorn and drinks so I really don't know.
I put the tray down on the table and ruffle Kathleen's hair. She and Walter are currently cuddling, sat on the floor leaning against the coffee table. They both look up at me, he smiles and she scowls- but I know she doesn't mean it because there's a smirk in her eyes. I laugh quietly and sit on the sofa with Dad and Rose.
He has his arm around her shoulders and her head is lying on his shoulder. They look peaceful, just like they should.
I try and focus on the movie, but I can't help but notice Des and Tinny on the floor. They've built a nest out of I think every spare, and in some cases non-spare pillow and blanket in the house. I laughed quietly again when I see how they're talking, they're texting each other! This could be because they got pelted with a pillow earlier by Jake when they were talking properly. He got really annoyed when he didn't get the pillow back too, Des just built it into the fort and shut up. It was funny.
Speaking of Jake, My baby brother and his girlfriend had started out sprawled across each other on the other sofa with a blanket that Jake probably had to fight Des for. Now though, they've slid round so Leslie is led on Jake they're chest to chest I think, but the blankets still over them somehow. I'm pretty sure they're both asleep though.
A light touch on my knee brought me out of my thinking. I looked to my right and saw Rose smiling at me.
Life is great at times like this.
