"What's wrong with you today? Kera, you aren't acting like you
usually do. Please tell me.you know I'm not going to tell anyone." Kera's
best friend Rachel said to her with concern in her eyes. "N.Nothing.I'm
just having a bad day." Kera answered taking a sip of her milk and looking
down at her lunch tray. "Kera! Come on what do you think I am?! An idiot or
something?! I can tell when you're upset! Please! Tell me." Rachel
insisted. "I'm fine!!! God!!!!" Kera got up and grabbed her tray. She
walked away quickly. She threw her tray into the trash can and sat down at
another near by table tears filling her eyes.
Rachel looked at Kera wondering what in the world is wrong. She tilted her eyes really concerned for her friend but didn't dare go near her. That afternoon Kera was up in her room doing her homework around 5:00. She glanced over at her clock and put her pencil down. She listened for a few moments and then got up. She heard her parents screaming downstairs. She grabbed her jacket which was hung up on the her bed post. She slowly walked down the stairs trying not to be heard by her parents.
"Why can't you just leave me out of this?!" She heard her mother yell. "Because you're in this family too!!" Kera started moving through the room to the front door but didn't make it. Her father caught her and gave her a look that could kill. "Where are you going?" He said with a stern voice that sent a deadly chill up her spine.
"I.I was just.umm.going to go for a walk." Her father took a step to her and gave her an even worse look. "No You're not.Go right back up to you're room!" "But But Dad!!" Kera stuttered. Her dad grabbed her by the shirt and pushed her against the wall and shook her. "Go upstairs to your room right now!" She couldn't breath. He had her pushed against the wall with too much force.her back ached with pain and her eyes almost over flowing with tears. She fought them back.she wouldn't let herself cry.not now.not right here. He let her down and she backed away from him quickly. She turned and ran. She tripped over the rug and hit her leg against the wall. "Go! You Little." Kera got up and ran before she could hear the end of his sentence.
She slammed her bed room door and hid behind her bed crying into her hands. She grabbed her leg. She prayed through all of her tears,
Dear Lord,
Please.Don't let this happen to me anymore.I don't deserve this! I shouldn't be scared of my own father! Please!! Lord.Please.With all of my heart and soul.please.Make.Make my dad leave me alone..Amen.
She got up on her bed and fell asleep after a long while. The next morning she awoke. She glanced around her room listening to make sure no yelling was taking place at that time.
