Christmas always sucked.

Yes indeed.

'This year will be no different', Natsuki thought as she shifted into a comfortable position in front of her gaming console.

'The same games...wish I had a new one.'

No there were no new games, no sounds of laughter in the house. No family to embarrass her with stories of her in diapers at age two.

Just silence.

Duran had situated himself comfortably in the corner and only whimpered once in awhile when a light turned on.

'Alone.'

"The 26th is the best day of the year!"

It wasn't true, even she knew that.

She walked over to the pup laying in the corner and hugged him deeply, smelling his puppy fur and feeling glad, at least for the moment that she had such a wonderful companion.

"You smell like shit Duran."

'whimper.'

"But I'm glad I have you buddy."

Rustling his fur for a moment longer she went to the kitchen and switched off the lights.

"Merry Christmas, Duran.."

She looked to the window and saw the city lit up with Christmas lights and dead otherwise.

knock

Pulling from her reverie, she crouched down like a tiger...ears perked at the unwanted sound.

POUND

"shit...what the hell?"

Duran had also awoken from his slumber and stood by her side with his ears perked.

"Shhh boy..."

Walking slowly...she crept near the door and peered through the peep hole to try and see who would dare ruin her moment of Christmas bliss.

Someone's hand must have covered up the spot.

"Shit."

Opening the door wearily, she looked out...only to find a beaming Mai, with a plate of food in hand...and upon opening the door more, Shizuru, Nao, and Mikoto all standing with expecting looks.

"What the hell!"

Pushing the door aside, and also Natsuki, Mai made her way to the kitchen. Mikoto ran to Duran who jumped and licked her face, Nao made her way to the couch and started on the game that was currently in pause status. Shizuru just looked at the dark haired girl and smiled.

"Hey."

Natsuki blushed for some unknown reason.

"Hey."

Grabbing her hand, the young beauty pulled the younger woman into a hug.

"Merry Christmas Natsuki."

A small kiss, at the corner of her mouth...and all of Christmas history was null.

"M-merry...Christmas...Shizuru..."

Smiling, Shizuru grabbed the hand of the emerald eyed woman and led her to the dining room.

"I thought Natsuki might like it if we brought her some food...so I called Mai..."

Blushing, Natsuki looked at the room that was but ten minutes ago lifeless, and smiled at the sudden change.

"You thought right."

Mai was busy in the kitchen fixing food, and Nao was cursing at the T.V... god knows that how many bugs really existed in Fallout afterall.

"Shizuru?"

Turning, she looked at Natsuki who held a sheepish grin...

"Merry Christmas."

Fumbling forward, crimson eyes met green, as the latter swooped in for a deep kiss.

No one saw.

"N-Natsuki?"

Green eyes locked on the floor, at her shoes.

"Thank you for coming Shizuru." you're the best present I've ever received on Christmas.

It was true.

Mai, Mikoto, and Nao left after a few hours of laughter...not to mention stories of Natsuki doing stupid things.

Shizuru didn't.
