Gerry's Real Dad
Author's Note: This fanfic is meant to be a joke. It's supposed to be bad. As in, I'm writing this story for my cousins, because the last time we watched the movie, I noticed that Aaron Schwartz (Gerry) and Tom McGowan (Pat) looked a lot alike, and we ran with it. That being said, don t take this too seriously. Enjoy!
It was just after the Apache Relay. Gerry was sitting on the dock, watching the sun set on the lake. Sounds from the party celebrating Camp Hope's victory over Camp MVP could be heard from this spot.
Pat came over then, and took a seat next to Gerry. He put an arm around the boy. "That was some fine work today, Captain."
Gerry smiled. "It was the most fun I've had in my entire life."
There was a moment of silence, then Pat said, "Gerry, there s something I need to tell you."
"You're in love with Julie?"
"Well, yes, but something else. Gerry, I'm your dad."
Gerry stared at Pat like he'd grown a second head. Then, slowly, his face broke into a grin. "Sure, Pat. That's a good one."
"No, Gerry, I mean it."
"But that's impossible! I have a dad! I've lived with him my entire life!"
Pat sighed. "He's not your father. You see, years ago, I got drunk at a football game, and, um...I guess the PG version is I had a 'very special time' with your birth mother, who was a cheerleader. Also drunk. Your mom couldn't keep you, as she had a lot of traveling to do with her team, and I didn't know what to do with a baby. So, I gave you up to a good family. But I told them, should you turn out to be a 'big boy' like me, to send you to Camp Hope so I could meet you one day. And here you are."
Gerry needed a minute to let it all sink in. Then, he stood up, and held his arms open wide. "I love you, daddy!"
Pat stood as well, and embraced Gerry. "I love you, son!"
