Disclaimer: Naruto characters (c) Masashi Kishimoto.

Author's Note: ZakuKin drabbles. Seeing as this is my third favorite couple (ShinoHina and KankuTen are my first and second), I decided to give them a little more attention. Each "chapter" has the title of a song on my playlist on my iPod. Please ready and review, and I appreciate your time. NOTE: This is AU with a character death, and the three Sound ninjas are not working for Orochimaru and Kin's made-up dad is an alchoholic.

Two Weeks

Kin hated missing her teammates.

Whenever she was too hurt to go out on a mission, they went without her. This time, Zaku and Dosu were somewhere in Tea Country tracking down a man who had sent threats to assasinate a local war lord. They had been gone for two weeks, while Kin was sitting at home, worried sick about her teammates, with a blunt force trauma to the back of her head. Thanks to her alchoholic father.

He doesn't even deserve the title of "father". Zaku's words rang through her mind. Her spiky-haired comerade was the only one who knew about the way her father treated her. The two of them were very close, since they went on plenty of missions by themselves when Dosu had third-degree burns over most of his body. It had taken him long to recover, and since the incident he had covered most of his body with tape and clothing. Zaku and Kin were the only people he trusted enough to see his scars.

But Kin's father was out for the night, probably drinking with Jiraya and their lady friends. At least when he went out and drank, Kin knew that he would probably pass out at Jiraya's place with a woman or two in his arms instead of taking swings at her.

She was lying in bed, practicing the hand-movements for her jutsus. The setting sun cast a golden and pink glow into her room, casting long shadows over the hardwood floor. Listening to her bells jingling wildly from across the room, she sighed with impatience. She was almost healed: the splitting pain in the back of her head had settled to a dull ache that thumped every time her heart beat and blood pulsed through her body. Like a minor headache.

Shutting her eyes, Kin expelled her breath slowly, but sucked it in as she heard a familiar voice. "I missed those bells when were were out on our mission." She could hear the grimace that she knew was on the speaker's face.

Sitting up quickly, Kin opened her eyes. She saw Zaku leaning against the door frame of her room, with Dosu hunched over in the hallway behind him. Kin laughed happily.

"How did it go?" She inquired curiously.

Dosu nodded, and Zaku spoke. "It went well." He looked over his shoulder and into the hallway. "But we're tired. We're going home to get some shut-eye."

Kin smiled happily settling back down into her blankets. She was glad her teammates had returned unscathed. She shut her eyes and listened to their footsteps as they walked away towards her front door.

"Kin?" The same voice sounded, and she looked again to see Zaku in her doorway.

She tilted her head in question.

"I missed you." Zaku smiled softly.

Kin hated missing her teammates. But she loved the feeling of wholeness when they returned home.
