I'm smiling as I get off the Hogwarts Express. It's so good to be back at Hogwarts. Don't get me wrong now, I do love my home with grandma and all, but you do miss the view of the Gryffindor tower, corridors of magic, duelling club, and all the rest. Plus, I really want to try out for Quiddich this year.
There aren't many students in our year. In fact, it's just me and Jim in Gryffindor. You see, not many children were born during that year of the war, and even fewer survived. I guess I got lucky. Jim was born overseas to muggle parents. His family wasn't in the war at all. Even though we're different, he's a great (if not stupid) friend.
...okay I regret that. Jim really test my patience. Just...stop flashing smiles at the girls and get a move on, ok? Geez, we're only 12, and plus, I'm starving…
We're sitting at the Gryffindor table, and I'm watching the first years being led into the great hall to get sorted.
We have some odd ones in this year's bunch, including one who looks like he has no idea what the hell he's doing here, another who looks slightly green (maybe he swallowed a squid?) and this girl who looks like a female version of Kreacher. Ok, maybe that's a bit mean…
Apart from that, they seem like a pretty ordinary year, with all the usual emotions. Y'know, fear, anxiety, some levels of proudness or haughtiness… Of course, most of them look like they're about to throw up.
Then a girl catches my eye. She stands out from the crowd, because she looks so confident, so proud. Her strawberry blonde hair seems to give her whole figure an unnaturally beautiful glow, and her ocean blue eyes are like gentle waves, rocking us all back and forth…
Hey, what am I talking about? It's just a first year…
Oh. Right. That's Victoire. My 'cousin' Viccy! I can't believe I didn't recognise her! Stupid veela charms...although, she does look quite cute in uniform…
"Weasley, Victoire!"
I barely notice I'm staring at her as she walks up to the stool until Jim pokes me in the shoulder.
Thanks mate.
"Duuude, stop staring, isn't she your cousin or something?"
I don't answer. Hey, is it just me, or does her expression look absolutely adorable right now? She looks like she's having a mental augment with the sorting hat. Heh.
"Gryffindor!"
I watch her groan as she heads towards our table. Probably wanted Ravenclaw or something. That girl, she's so cute when she pouts, and I can't help but offer one of my best smiles as she gets closer.
She smiles back, but only for a split second. To my disappointment, she sits at the end of the table, beside the first years, but far away from me. A boy of her year immediately engages in a conversation with her.
Damn, she's going to be so popular, with her veela charms and all. I glance around the table, and spot several guys eyeing her already.
Something starts growling inside of me. Viccy's so delicate (although she would kill me if she heard me say that), and if any of them ever lay a finger on my Victoire I swear…
Wait. My Victoire?
Still, those boys do have a point, I mean, she is really pretty and all, and, Jim's wrong. I'm not actually her cousin, so I still have a chance, right?
Wait, WHAT?
WHAT THE HELL, TEDDY?
AN: Ok, this is basically a rewrite of 'He Never Realised', which is frankly, awful, because I was, what? 10 when I wrote it? I'm pretty happy, because that fic sucked so much I flamed myself, and this is WAY better, even if it still sucks. Can be taken as a oneshot, or I may write some more (not really). But anyway, R&R? It only takes like 3 seconds! :) Oh yeah and Mija if you're reading this, thanks ;) (I don't even know why you bother)
