Mugen sat by himself in a small family owned restaurant in Edo eating dumplings with some money he picked out of a guy's pocket that was giving Mugen some shit; you can assume what happen to the guy. He sat and pondered things, it had been almost a year since he had seen Fuu and maybe three since he had seen Jin which was when the three of them parted. He had seen Fuu while he passed through a small town in the mountains.
*flashback*
Mugen sat by a stream when suddenly something flew across the river, "The hell was that—"Mugen turned around to see Fuu and Momo scurrying back to her. "Well look who it is," Mugen chuckled to himself. "I'm surprised you've lived this long, been caught hostage lately?" Mugen teased.
"I'm missed you!" Fuu ran with tears in her eyes and threw her arms around Mugen. Mugen hesitated at first but then hugged her back, he would never admit it but he kind of missed her too. "Have you seen Jin lately?! I did a couple months ago, he had an apprentice," Fuu looked down at Momo splashing in the stream.
"That's something I'd have to get paid to do," Mugen looked over at Fuu and took some time to notice that she looked more like a young woman. He neglected the thought and started to walk away, "Well I'll seeya around Fuu," Mugen said as he walked off.
"You jerk! I haven't seen you in a year and you walk away already?!" Fuu yelled back.
"You'll just get all sentimental and shit," Mugen mumbled back. "Seeya," Mugen waved.
Mugen looked down on his plate seeing he only had three dumplings left. He thought to himself 'teh, it's nice not having to share'. He gobbled down another and thought about some more things and shamefully admitted to himself that he missed the both of those two. He remembered when Jin had said when they were healing; '..you two are my first friends'. Mugen suddenly realized that those two were his first allies in a long time.
A ray of light beamed into a room as a man entered and ordered some dumplings. Mugen seemed to recognize this voice and turned to see who the man was, as he looked the town men were shocked to find they did indeed know each other. Mugen looked up to see a pale man with ebony hair in a ponytail with a blue kimono he couldn't forget. "Jin, it's been awhile."
"It sure has, Mugen," Jin sat down at the table across from Mugen and began to eat his first dumpling.
