A massive bulletin board is placed in the Grand Hall for all those needing some extra cash, what's on the bulletin board are jobs that were approved by the "Boss" running the place. The bulletin board, although very effective and outdated for this time and age, was never really packed because the jobs took many days to complete.
Standing in front of the board and deciding which one to take, was a female who stood about 5'1" with long black hair and dark brown eyes. Her eyes darted back and forth, unsure which one appealed to her more. "What's left are the ones that are too annoying to deal with," she muttered to herself.
Intensely focused on the board, she didn't notice her partner approaching her. With a smirk on his face and his golden eyes shining, he decided to jump on her, causing the both of them to smack against the board harshly.
"You little-!"
"You let your guard down!"
She shoved against the board, pushing her partner onto the floor and swiftly pounced on him, but she was too slow and ended up hitting her face on the hardwood while her partner was already standing and laughing like a little kid.
"You still haven't gotten any quicker since we last saw each other," he managed to say between giggles.
She pushed herself up and glared at the white-haired male. "You shut your mouth!"
"Still hot-tempered are you? Relax. The Boss has summoned us." Finally calming down, he smiled sweetly at his partner.
The Boss?
Her anger subsided and she stood straight up, eyes suspicious. "Why?"
"You know better than to question," sternly scolding her, he whipped around and began walking down the Grand Hall and towards the massive stairs.
You're annoying!
Glaring and clenching her fists, she followed her partner.
"I've gathered you all today for an important meeting," a figure spoke from behind an immensely large cherry colored desk. Addressing ten other people standing in front of her, she clapped her hands together and smiled. "I have chosen all ten of you to partake in this... well I don't know what to call it yet, but you've all been chosen by me and I expect you to follow through with it!"
One of the ten, the one that had black hair, looked skeptical. "Chosen? What are we doing exactly?" Her partner that stood next to her shook his head in a disapproving way.
"Good question, Mindi, but please, let me finish explaining before you interrupt me." With venom in her words, the Boss slide off of her chair and walked towards the ten. Only standing 4'6" with blonde hair and dark eyes, she looked meek and harmless. But everyone gathered knew better than to underestimate the Boss.
"You're all here today for a recon assignment," pacing back and forth, she continued. "Not just any recon assignment, mind you, but one where you won't be returning until I believe you've gathered all you could."
She stopped and faced everyone with a steady gaze. "We've done it, other worlds are now accessible, and I've chosen you ten to go and gather as much information about these worlds as you can."
All ten pair of eyes widened, a few looked at one another as if this was some kind of joke. But not a single word was muttered.
The Boss then sighed and walked behind her desk to pull out a hat. "Pick a slip. That's the world you'll be visiting."
One by one, each body shuffled towards the Boss and stuck a hand into the hat. When all ten received a slip, the Boss sat down behind her desk.
"You all know where to go. Prepare if you must, but be ready to depart by the end of today."
