When he had signed up for Avalanche, he couldn't have cared less about the Planet or his promise to Tifa. At the end of the day, whatever happened to the Planet would be of no big loss to him. That's why half of what Barret said just went right over the top of him. He didn't care. He didn't want to care.

Forgetting his promise to Tifa was no big deal either. Why should he remember something from all those years ago? It wasust a stupid promise and not keeping it was not a loss to him. Tifa could look after herself, why did she need to drag him in to things too? He didn't care about the promise. What would not keeping it cost him in the end? Losing his friendship with Tifa? His job with Avalanche? No matter how cold it was, Cloud knew neither would be a big loss. After all, he had not been in contact with Tifa for 5 years, they could hardly be classed friends anymore anyway.

And as for meeting the flower girl, that was definately not going to be any different. There was nothing special about her.Nothing special about her gorgeous green eyes, or her beautiful smile. Nope. Nothing special at all. He only bought the flower from her so she would get lost. Yet as he watched her walk away, he was overcome with a strange sensation.

He felt loss for the first time.

And somewhere deep inside him, he wanted to see her again. He needed to see her again. His flower girl. His Aeris.
