Severus rested his eyes from reading texts on curse breaking as Hermione started her nightly rounds.
He heard the rustle of her robes approaching, but he feigned sleep not wishing to engage in her usual battery of questions.
Suddenly a hand was stroking his hair gently from his face and he heard her say, "I'm glad you are finally getting some sleep," followed by the moist feather softness of a kiss upon his cheek and all he could do was ponder why.
