Disclaimer: I don't own Family Guy

Joe had a bit of a headache. Bonnie had been really mad at him for a few days now and he really couldn't understand why. At first he just brushed it aside and then it started to bother him. When he couldn't understand and it didn't pass after a few days he decided to ask her what was going on. He needed to know. He needed to understand because it was driving him crazy.

"You really don't know," Bonnie asked.

"I really don't honey," Joe said, "If you told me I would know"

"Joe the way you acted towards Kevin the other night at the thanksgiving dinner was horrible," Bonnie said.

"Well he deserted his men and even went as far as to fake his own death to escape the war," Joe pointed out.

"How could you forget what's really important," Bonnie demanded, "Family, love... there are times to be moral and do 'the right thing' but there is also a time where love and compassion and love is the right thing to do."

"But-"

"Are you forgetting that we already lost Karen before Kevin was even born."

"How could I forget Bonnie," Joe said sadly, "I held her while she died"

A tear came to his eye.

"Are you forgetting how much happiness Kevin brought to our lives? Did you forget that you love him?"

"That's a ridiculous question," Joe said, "Of course I didn't forget that I love him. I never forget that. Just like I never forget Karen"

"Don't ever forget what's really important anymore," Bonnie said softly, "You would have rather deserted him then face the humiliation of having a son that was weak"

"It's not like that," Joe said, "I went into police officer mode without thinking. It was an automatic response for me. I was not thinking about anything. At the moment I didn't see Kevin as Kevin but as any boy who deserted his unit. I saw him as a criminal in the eyes of the law. It was as if the blinders were put on."

"Well I was thinking as a mother. You know I say when right is right and wrong is wrong."

"I know Bonnie and I'm sorry but at least I realized I was wrong"

"Yes," Bonnie sighed, "That is a good thing if nothing else"
