It was common knowledge that Captain Hitsugaya absolutely hated sweets. Nobody was quite sure why, but nonetheless, it was true. That was why, when Rangiku was on her way to see her Captain one day, she was utterly amazed to see the boy accepting with a smile and an uncharacteristically warm small, a large box of candy from Captain Ukitake.
And as much as she wondered, she didn't dare ask.
However, if she had dared to ask, Hitsugaya would have looked annoyed, but calmly answered, "Because I'm the closest thing to a son he'll ever have."
