Clark Kent looked away from his computer and glanced at Lois. He was helping her research for a front page Daily Planet article. Clark had started spending more time with her on projects like these ever since returning from the alternate universe. Being with her served as a good distraction, but in his heart he knew he couldn't ignore the distractions any longer.

"Lois?"

"You found something?"

"No, but… I wanted to talk to you about… my experience."

"Clark, I know how you feel about it but you can't let it get to you. He wasn't you."

"He and I are more alike than any identical twins ever will be. We just don't have the same DNA; we have an almost identical past except for the fact that that universe's Luthor was his best friend. Besides that, there's not much of a difference."

"Still, you're being too hard on yourself. You would never do those things."

"How do you know?"

"I know you. It just wouldn't happen."

"That universe had a Lois too. She would have said the same thing you're telling me now. I can say all I want I wouldn't do it, but I'm sure he would have said the same thing. If I went through the same thing who knows what I could be capable of doing?"

"If you're that worried about it, which you shouldn't be, why don't you talk to the Justice League? See what they think."

"I was thinking about that. Maybe I will. Thanks Lois. I know that wasn't exactly the longest conversation but it helped a lot. Really."

"Of course, Clark. Anytime."

A couple days later, a general meeting was held at the Watchtower. After long discussion most of the Contingency Plan had been figured out. Superman would ingest a remote release Kryptonite capsule, allowing it to be triggered at a moment's notice. Once activated, it would permeate his body, killing him. But exactly who would hold the trigger was left open to a heated discussion. Eventually it was decided that a selection of people would switch out who held it every week. The five selected were Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and Aquaman. Batman was specifically left out due to doubts on whether or not he would be able to activate the device. The agreement was finally settled and they went on with their lives, hoping the day one would have to push the button never came.
