Open story---Four people know
Grissom and Sara were fairly certain that their secret was safe. They rarely met in public. They both resented PDAs. They were always working. Who else could know? They were the only two.
Sara had kept her apartment for the past year and Grissom cleared a space in the garage for her car to fit among the boxes and mounted specimens. Since he wrote the schedule, he prevented any obvious days off. The entire team was always scheduled off on Sundays. Still, it was Grissom's job on the line if the secret escaped. They had been a couple for almost a year.
When Brass got shot, it was Grissom who took control. The team gathered for support and Jim gave them a thumbs up from the recovery room. Three days later, Jim was recovering nicely in a semi-private room. Grissom stopped by to check on his friend. About thirty minutes later, Sara made her appearance. Jim jumped at the opportunity to snare the CSIs. He had noticed the pattern of their visits. Brass was the quintessential detective. CSI's followed the evidence. Jim used hunches and leads to get people talking. And now his skills were about to pay off......
Jim asked Sara if she and Grissom had been a couple for six months. Grissom was standing right at his bedside. Sara simply looked over and shook her head. Jim countered his informal interrogation by mentioning that their secret was safe with him and that he had never seen Grissom as centered and balanced. Grissom was going home on time after most shifts and turned down several out of town conferences. Jim continued to look at Sara and dive deeper. He knew it had been more than six months. Jim told Sara it had been almost a year.. Jim had seen Grissom's Tahoe in front of her apartment complex after their tough case at the Mental Institution. He knew it had been a rough case for Sara. Jim had driven over after shift with some dinner for Sara, only to find that Grissom had beat him to the punch. Neither Grissom nor Sara could speak, for fear they would blow their cover.
The fourth person had targeted Grissom. She had no interest in Sara at first. Her quiet observations just led her to discover the relationship. The slight touch at a crime scene. Grissom's concern and protectiveness. The easiest way to get Grissom, was to get Sara. Natalie knew she was right shortly after she took the job cleaning for Platinum Maids. The quiet of the late nights at the crime lab allowed for Natalie to see more than most people. She was mopping the floor in a dark hallway when she noticed her two targets standing way too close for normal conversation. The soft touch to her cheek and then his arm around her body signaled Natalie was right. The case of the six show girls had pushed Sara to the brink of her emotions. Within the month, Natalie would push her over the edge.
