Rick picked up the notepad placed on the bedside table and started writing afterwards her tapped her shoulder.

"What is one thing you miss about hearing?"

Kate picks her notepad up and writes her answer back.

"I miss hearing you say, I love you,always and falling asleep to your heartbeat"

Rick leans forward and kisses her.

The next day Kate is reading her book since she can't go to work anymore. Rick tapped on her shoulder and held out his hand she took his hand.

When they walked into the bedroom there was rose petals on the bed spelling out 'I Love You'

The tears drip down her cheeks she turns around cups his cheeks and kisses him,I love you too she mouths.

The next day she gets home from shopping with Lanie she sits in his lap.

The next morning he goes the street before she wakes up to buy her a teddy bear saying 'I love you'

He kisses her temple she slowly wakes up and sees him holding a teddy bear he gives the bear to her and she hugs it close to her.

'I love you' She signs to him.

A couple of months later Kate find herself pregnant but has one worry.

"What's wrong?" Rick asked from his notepad.

"I won't be able to hear their first cry or first word what If they don't love me cause I can't hear them"

"They will love you and we could look into hearing aids"

"I guess we could"

When Kate is 6 months pregnant she gets a hearing aid beside when her mother was murdered she doesn't think she has ever cried this much. She can finally hear her husband say I love you once again.

She can hear the world around her and Captain Kate's said once having her baby she can return to work.

Months later Kate goes into labour and when her baby is born she can hear his first cries. They name him Mason.

When Mason is one his first word is mama and every time he says mama it makes her tear up but in a happy way.

When Mason is six his as curious as his father one night she is reading him a story when he asks her a question.

"Mama?"

"Yes Mason"

"What's the thing in your ear?"

"That's a hearing aid, see mama can't hear in one ear cause one today she was out on a lead and a bomb went off causing me to lose my hearing"
