It was Christmas day. Wallace carefully looked over the preparations he had made for his Christmas party. He had invited almost everybody he knew, even some of the trainers who had battled him. In fact, he had so many guests that his only choice was to hold the party outdoors, on the beautiful shores of Ever Grande City.

Just three hours later, the snow-blanketed plateau was bustling with activity. Steven had been the first to arrive, and was waiting. Just waiting for the one person he wanted to see that day.

"Maybe she couldn't come…" he muttered under his breath. But, as if on cue, a Milotic appeared on the horizon, quickly approaching Ever Grande City. Upon reaching the beach, it let its trainer step onto the sand. May hurriedly returned her Milotic to its poke ball and ran onto the plateau.

"Sorry I'm late!" she called.

Steven's head immediately perked up at the sound of her voice. He would make his move now. Calmly, he walked up to her.

"Hi May," he said. May turned to him, and upon seeing his face, smiled brightly.

"Hi Steven!" she exclaimed. "Great to see you again!"

"So, how have you been?" he asked, smiling.

"Oh, I've been doing pretty well," she replied. "I've been spending most of my time at the Battle Frontier. It's kinda hard to get all of those gold symbols."

"But how have you been outside of training?" Steven asked her slyly, moving a bit closer to the brunette. "Do you… have a boyfriend?"

May jumped back at that question. "W-Why do you want to know?" she demanded, looking down and blushing deeply.

Steven again moved closer to her. "Don't you trust me enough to at least let me know a bit about your life?" he asked her, chuckling.

May stepped back. "C'mon! That's too personal, Steven!" she exclaimed. "We're just fellow trainers! There's no need for us to share our private lives!"

A bit more boldly, Steven again stepped forward. "Really? We're just fellow trainers?"

May could not back up any farther now. Her back was against the outside wall of Victory Road. "Yes. We're just fellow trainers," she repeated.

Steven noticed that she was trapped. He moved up close to her once more, and asked again. "Do you have a boyfriend?"

"Erm… No," May replied, finally giving in.

Steven grinned. He put his fingers under May's chin and tilted her head up. "Well, perhaps you'll have one very soon," he said, before bending down to have his lips meet hers. May couldn't move; she was stunned. After what felt like an eternity, Steven backed away from her.

"Merry Christmas, May."
