Author's Note: This is my first one-shot, so please be nice. Plus it's one of my first stories I've actually finished, yaay! ) Please review.

The Chief had organized a Halloween party to strengthen the relationships between all of the Seattle Grace Staff and unfortunately everyone had to go. There were absolutely no exceptions. I considered calling in sick, I really didn't want to see Derek and Meredith all drooling over each other or Mark drooling over me, but well, the Chief knows everything, so calling in sick wouldn't work this time.

When I arrived at work I put my costume in my locker and put my lab coat on, before walking to the nurses' station to find out who was my intern today. To my big surprise Alex Karev was standing there, waiting for me.

"Wow, what a surprise!" I said sarcastically. "Plastics is not what you were looking for?"

"Plastics is…" He laughed. "But Sloan isn't. Seriously, how did you put up with him?"

I decided not to answer that.

"Plus I'd rather work with a hot chick like you" Alex grinned.

"KAREV!" Bailey yelled to him as she was coming around the corner. "You don't talk like that to attendings. How many times do I have to tell you that?!"

"Miranda, it's okay. You put him under Sloan's service too much. He's starting to act like him" I laughed. I guess this day wouldn't be so horrible after all.

I couldn't believe I hated Karev that much when I first met him. Alright, he was extremely arrogant, a huge sex-addict and he didn't have many bedside manners, but he was also quite cute. He had nice eyes and he could be nice, when he wanted. Plus, I could use the non-strings attached flirting. It cheered me up.

"So are you going to the Halloween party?" He asked me during a surgery that was scheduled right after lunch.

"Well, I guess I don't have much choice, do I? I'm sure the Chief is going to check if everyone's there" I answered.

"You're not looking forward to it then?"

"Oh, hell no…" I muttered.

"I can imagine that, you ex-husband all drooling over Grey… it's disgusting!" I guess Alex realised I really didn't need that comment. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that"

"It's okay, Karev"

When my shift was done I went to the locker room and began changing into my 'Bride in Manhattan' costume. I didn't think Derek would like this costume, because I was actually wearing my wedding dress, but I didn't care. Besides, I really didn't expect everyone to dress up into a freaky costume anyway? How childish was that? This wasn't high school anymore.

When I'd changed I stepped into the elevator down to the first floor where the party was being held, so that patients wouldn't be bothered much by the loud music. When I stepped out of the elevator the first thing that I saw was Derek kissing Meredith like it would be goodbye. I quickly brushed passed them to the other side of the hallway to get something to drink.

"You look absolutely amazing!" Alex said as he came up to me. "Is that your wedding dress?"

"Yeah, actually it is. I'm trying to make that dirty mistress jealous" I joked. "Just kiddin', I didn't have much else. It looks like you didn't too"

"No, which sane person throws a party like this?"

I smiled. He really was nice.

"Wanna go outside?" He said with this really naughty expression in his eyes and grabbed my hand and pulled me outside.

I saw the perplexed look on Derek, Mark and Meredith's face. I guess the Chief was right about throwing this party. It definitely strengthened some relationships. In more ways than I could ever imagine.
