Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "The Old Iron Bridge" from Season 7. Enjoy and comment.
Rheneas and Skarloey work on the most beautiful line on Sodor.
They like to puff through the forest and over the river.
A very old bridge crosses the river. It was so old, that some of the beams were rusted, and were damaged by a storm.
Skarloey puffed happily along through the forest.
Then, there was trouble. Skarloey didn't realize that the bridge was damaged, until it was too late!
Skarloey was now hanging dangerously over the edge of the bridge, near the river!
"HELP!" he cried.
Soon, Rheneas arrived, and pulled Skarloey to safety.
A few days later, Sir Topham Hatt came to see Rheneas and Skarloey.
"The bridge has been fixed, but the workmen have left their freight cars there. Skarloey, I need you to collect them."
"Yes sir." sighed Skarloey. He didn't want to go on the bridge again.
When Skarloey arrived, he saw the freight cars on the other end of the bridge.
He started to cross, but stopped.
Skarloey looked down at the water below. He was scared.
"Come on Skarloey!" called his driver. "The bridge is safe now."
But Skarloey wouldn't cross the bridge.
Instead, they went back home.
"We'll pick up the freight cars." said Rheneas's driver.
"Sir Topham Hatt will be cross if you don't cross the bridge!" said Rheneas.
Now Rheneas had to take Skarloey's load as well as his own.
Each morning, he crossed the bridge with no problem.
Finally, Sir Topham Hatt came to see Skarloey. He was cross
"If you won't cross the old bridge, then you will shunt freight cars instead." he said sternly.
"Really useful engines always do as they are told!"
"Sorry sir." said Skarloey sadly.
The next morning, Rheneas took Skarloey's freight cars as usual.
As he came across the old bridge, he ran out of water!
"Bother!"
The yard manager spread the news.
"Rheneas has broken down!" said the yard manager.
"We must go help him!" said Skarloey.
He set off as fast as he could.
Skarloey was scared, but determined.
The bridge creaked loudly as Skarloey crossed it, and the river was deeper than ever,
"I must rescue my friend." said Skarloey to himself,
He puffed slowly over the bridge.
Finally, he coupled up, and managed to bring Rheneas to safety.
"Thank you!" said Rheneas. "You were very brave to help me!"
Skarloey is no longer afraid of the old bridge, and he loves his journeys more than ever.
