It is not hurried or rushed. Mercutio would have never let it be that way. It's simple and sweet, drawn out with the taste of wine and strawberries.
It's a picnic under an oak tree in the most secluded part of Verona, and Benvolio doesn't think it could be anymore perfect.
Anyone passing by could tell they're just two fools in love, two children infatuated with each other's thoughts. But, no one passes by. It's just them, and Benvolio wishes it could stay like that forever.
"Let's never go back, Mer," Benvolio suggests, and Mercutio is content with having it be that way. The younger man is tucked into Mercutio's side, nodding off every now and then.
Mercutio keeps bringing the bottle to his lips, letting the sweet wine wet his tongue. He absentmindedly plays with Benvolio's hair, letting soft brown curls sift through his fingers.
The Verona hills in the distance show the sun setting, and Mercutio reluctantly believes it's about time they head back if they want to make it before the sun has gone down.
"Benvolio," Mercutio says, shaking the other man awake. He laughs, giddy from the wine. "The sunset could not compare to thy beauty," he whispers, and for a moment, Benvolio looks euphoric.
Mercutio looks down at the other man's lips, his own being a lustful red from the wine, and finds himself leaning forward, searching intently for any sign of repulsion from the other man.
When the gap is closed between them, and their lips have connected, Mercutio can feel the smile on Benvolio's mouth.
When they pull apart, there is a breathless, laughing, happy Benvolio in front of Mercutio.
"Can we do that again?" Benvolio asks in a small, polite voice. Instead of confirming anything, Mercutio grabs the other man by the waist and drags him closer, kissing him again.
They don't stop until they're breathless with swollen lips. And even after that, they don't stop.
