His fingers softly brushed delicate brown hair back as he leaned closer, pressing the smallest kiss to Makoto's temple, while Makoto tried not to let him know that he hadn't fallen asleep beside him in the field.
Kisumi smiled softly as he gazed at his boyfriend that he loved more than anything though he hadn't yet told him a word of that; he reveled in these quiet moments when he could be gentle and loving without having to find the words to explain the feelings in his chest.
Even now, Kisumi was worried as he didn't want to force Makoto to stay with him as he was so sweet that Kisumi hoped that Makoto would tell him first.
Kisumi brushed his fingers through Makoto's hair yet again as he carefully pressed closer to him and massaged his hair gently against his fingers.
His eyes closed as he relaxed against Makoto and nearly fell asleep beside his boyfriend from the gentle atmosphere.
"You know, this is for you." Kisumi hummed as he pulled his hands away, and Makoto glanced up to see Kisumi's house lit up with Christmas lights and decorations and the window appeared to house even more beautiful decorations inside.
"It is?" Makoto barely hummed his answer as he turned to look at his boyfriend.
"Yeah, I know that you miss your family right now and the way you love big get togethers, so I threw my best get together that I could." Kisumi smiled as he took Makoto's hand and guided him into the house where fresh cookies were baked, the fireplace was lit, and Kisumi's little brother sat on the couch with one of three hot cocoas.
"More will come later." Kisumi muttered in slight embarrassment.
"It's fine." Makoto smiled, "I love it."
Kisumi met his smile with one of his own as he brought Makoto over to the couch and offered his long term boyfriend a cup of cocoa.
The evening was spent in peaceful and cheerful chatter and warm goodies; the next day, Makoto's family and his old swim team would visit.
Makoto fell asleep, leaning against Kisumi's side, perfectly content today as they spent time together.
Kisumi fidgeted, carefully wrapped birthday gift in hand.
Makoto was due to arrive any minute now as Kisumi fumbled with the box though tried to not drop it.
His boyfriend finally walked over, looking as content and happy as Kisumi expected him to be.
"How's your day, Makoto?" Kisumi asked with a brilliant smile, ignoring his nervousness.
"It went well, thank you." Makoto's eyes sparkled as he leaned closer to his boyfriend though didn't ask about the gift that Kisumi was holding.
"How about I treat you to dinner?" Kisumi asked as he carefully guided Makoto towards a fancy restaurant.
"Thank you." Makoto smiled as he let his boyfriend lead him over.
Kisumi easily spoke up about reservations when he arrived that Makoto hadn't even realized that they had.
"Here." Kisumi attempted a bright smile, biting back what he could of his nerves as he passed down the gift, sliding out of his chair in another fluid movement.
Makoto carefully unwrapped the small gift to find a little jewelry box that when he opened, stunned him, and had Kisumi speaking up before he knew it.
"Happy Birthday. Well, I love you, and I know that I never told you, but I really do mean it. Would you do me the unbelievable honor of becoming my husband?" Kisumi stared up at his boyfriend, smile bright and loving.
"Yes, I will, Kisumi." Makoto smiled as he leaned down to kiss his boyfriend turned fiance though it took them a bit to slide the ring into place as they could barely pull away from kissing each other to do so.
