The thing about inertia is that, once two people have passed through each other's sphere of gravity once, gravity will always pull them back towards each other, and inertia will keep them from leaving.

When she sees him Nemu feels as though she's seen him before, and that sense of familiarity does not come from having read reports. It's like seeing someone across a crowded room, that one person who always seems to stand out in a sea of faces, and then meeting them a week later after having forgotten the first glimpse she got. She doesn't know how she knows him, only that she does, and feels as though she's always known him.

Ulquiorra Schiffer, in the quiet way that is so similar to her own, seems to share her sentiment in entirety, though he never speaks on it and Nemu doesn't think he ever will. No words need to be shared on a subject that they already understand.

They're drawn back to each other like a satellite orbiting a star—and Nemu can not honestly say which of them is which. Drawn to each other, and Nemu knows that it will always be like this. It's not perfect and it will never be complete, but Nemu knows very well that nothing can ever be perfect.

She doesn't demand perfection.

This is what it means to have a kindred spirit, Nemu realizes one night after the shadows have drawn their curtain over her and she can think in silence and security. The realization fills her with some numb triumph, as though this thought has been hard-won, and just a little warmth floods into her bones. For the first time, Nemu feels what she realizes is something resembling giddiness, making her feel like she's floating, until she comes back to earth again. She still feels warm, though.

This is it, Nemu knows. This is what it is to know a spirit who is kin to her own. A puzzle piece that fits in her grooves.

The floating feeling that comes over her is the closest Nemu has ever come to feeling truly happy. She doesn't want to lose that feeling.

Even if the cause is an enemy. Nemu makes little distinction between Shinigami and Human and Hollow, not anymore—because Nemu has seen 'the light', and she knows that the only difference between them is the decay of the soul.

All she wants is to find herself back in Ulquiorra's orbit, and him in hers—and for inertia to keep them from ever leaving.
