Rhodey and Tony were walking home after school, discussing the events of the crazy day they had just had. They had just said goodbye to Jean before she headed off to Dr. Xavier's special school.
"Dude, you didn't know you're famous? You're only in the news like, every other day. Your life makes the news no matter what you do. Don't you ever notice cameras or reporters or paparazzi or anything hovering around you?" Rhodey explained.
"No, I don't. I had no idea I was such a big deal..."
"Man, whenever you walk into a room people get at least a tiny bit star struck. I mean, think about it, a billionaire-"
"Used to be billionaire." Tony corrected.
"Right, used to be billionaire is in the same room as them. Seriously, what are you always thinking about?" Rhodey asked. He probably knew the answer though.
"I-I dunno, stuff..." Tony answered nervously. Rhodey smirked.
"You're always too distracted thinking about Pepper, aren't you?" He asked.
"No!"
"You so are! Dude, face it, you totally fell head over heels for her."
"Did not!"
"Did so!"
"Deny it all you like, dude, I'm still saying you like her." Rhodey said, folding his arms triumphantly. "Even the public thinks Pepper is your girlfriend."
"Wait, what? They do?" Tony asked worriedly.
"Yeah, a lot of people think she's your girlfriend. It's actually kinda funny." Rhodey explained.
"Well how many newspapers have said that?" Tony asked.
"I dunno, dude, but you know that once something is in a magazine people aren't going to be convinced it's a lie very quickly…or easily, for that matter." Rhodey explained with a smile. Tony sighed in frustration.
"Well what am I supposed to do about it?"
"I would just ignore it if I were you. It's bound to be true sometime soon anyways."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Tony asked, confused.
"Nothing, don't worry about it." Rhodey said with a smile as he continued down the street. Tony followed, continually asking what his statement meant.
