Audrey sighed.

Working Haven cases were more exhausting than regular FBI cases, the ones in which she tracked down and took down major drug ringers, or dealt with multi-hostage situations. These Haven cases though, they took all her FBI training, her natural intuition and so much more just to get an idea of the citizen with supernatural abilities might be behind it...the rest was guesswork. Not that she would ever tell Nathan that.

She was jealous of him. He may not know how lucky he is. He lived in a small town, knew everybody to some extent. She never had that a past, familiarity. Hell, she barely stayed in one place long enough to make it through a school year. From foster home to foster home, with mostly orphanages in between. She never formed relationships. Always the new kid, the freak. Well, maybe they had that part in common.

Even at the FBI, she barely related to her partner. Just another agent to work the case with, never a friend. If she could, she'd take solo cases, one's that didn't require some man in a suit.

But working the cases here, she liked having a partner. Things got way weirder than "unusual FBI" cases. She needed someone to work with, someone to take the pressures away, to help dealing with the stressors.

And the fact she found him attractive helped with the whole not-usually-wanting-a-partner thing.

Haven had some good-looking guys for such a small town. Of course, the one she wanted didn't show nearly as much interest in her as the other.

Duke was fine and all (He definitely look good with his shirt off) but she wasn't really into him. Yes, he was sort of a 'bad boy' and yes, she normally went for that. But Nathan...he was different. He sort of understood what she went through. The whole social outcast thing.

And somehow, within the first week of her being in Haven, he had managed to tear down her self-built walls, destroyed her guard and managed to get her wanting to both work with a partner and stay in the tiny town in Maine.

In all her years as a Federal Agent, she had never desired to work with someone else long-term. Even when they were hot (and had a nicer body than Nathan) but the looks weren't it, not with him.

She always took the weird cases, no matter her partner. She was drawn to the mysteries.

She was drawn to him, he was intriguing and she couldn't resist the mystery than was Nathan Wournos.
