Another oneshot in tribute to illbewaiting on DA.

Can be read as a sequel to "Darkest Before Dawn," but can also be read as a stand-alone fic. (I recommend reading the other one first though)

Disclaimer: I do not own Kingdom Hearts.

Science in multiple worlds - especially Hollow Bastion, now just Radiant Garden - had claimed to have cured multiple personality disorder. They've published their findings, stating that they can eliminate the alternate personas once and for all.

But how do you exterminate the other, unseen half of a hero? You can't exactly say "Hello, Keybearer, I'm here to cure you of your Nobody!"

But not even Ansem had told the world the truth behind the Nobodies - the backstory to Organization XIII. So how could they know?

"Nobodies are created when someone with a strong heart and sense of being becomes a Heartless." The journals had stated that. "A Nobody is a shadow of the person it has been made from, often having many of the same traits, often being a parallel opposite."

Yeah, that was the Sora/Roxas duality in a nutshell. And Riku knew it well.

So when Sora's memories were restored and Roxas continued to be a part of him, he was always there, in the back of his mind, his subconscious. Always awake when Sora was, slept when he did, saw all that he saw.

"Riku!" Sora had cried, oblivious to the world around them at that point, still unknowing of Roxas' presence inside his body, his mind. Sure enough, there was the silver-haired teen, standing in clear view. Roxas' heart jumped, remembering what they had in the World that Never Was - did that make their night together a one-night stand that never happened?

Sora fell into the older boy's arms, crying of joy or lost love or something utterly trivial that was far too childish for Roxas to comprehend. Sure, Roxas cried too - when one did something, so did the other - but it was because it was Sora being held by Riku, not Roxas.

A long time ago, almost a year now, Riku had come to terms. He did remember that night, with the rain coming down like the sky's goal was to flood the whole world and the deserted house and how they probably would've had hypothermia if they hadn't done what they did. He did remember that back home he'd liked Sora - been with him, slept with him, kissed him - but had never loved him until he'd met that other side of him.

Riku clutched Sora tightly, from regaining a friend on in mourning he couldn't tell. Sora was there, tangible and in the flesh - which meant the blonde was gone. Not there, disappeared, vanished into thin air.

For a moment - just a moment - Riku swore that he'd seen Roxas - felt the familiar blonde hair tickle his chin as he rested it on the crying boy's head, smelled the cold rain that had drenched them both. He blinked, and it was the same sniveling, boisterous, loud and obnoxious Sora that he'd been with before.

To see the blonde just once more, was it too much to ask?

Was it selfish to wish that Sora was Roxas all the time?

But Sora (Roxas) looked into Riku's eyes, tears still streaming down his face. Sora couldn't say much of anything himself, just managing a "Riku," and completely blacked out.

He awoke minutes later, smiling at the fact that Riku looked somewhat satisified, muttering "See you later..."

"Who were you talking to, Riku?"

"Oh, Nobody in particular." It was good to talk to him, to see the other side of those depths of blue, to be reassured that he wasn't entirely gone.

I'm sure that this was bordering on the edge of "oneshot" and "drabble", but hey. I wanted to take a break from my main tribute fic.

Review? Review.
