"Miss Granger, your wand please." The auror ordered in a motionless tone. Hermione hesitated, is she ready to give up everything that she had experienced for the past seven-eight years?
She looked down at her wand, flashback of her joy and excitement of holding the wand, her wand.
Flashback
"Is this m-my wand?" an eleven year Hermione Granger stammered, looking at the 10¾" vine wood, with a dragon heartstring core wand. "It chose me?" still bewildered at the fact that this certainwand had chose her out of everybody.
"Yes dear, it is" Ollivander calmly assured her.
Hermione Granger smiled down at her wand, unable to explain about her joy of having her own wand.
Back to present
Hermione snapped out of her flashback and looked at her wand for the last time.
It had accompanied her for so many years, her greatest companion besides Harry and Ron. She felt like crying her heart out, screaming if giving this up was the right decision.
But her Gryffindor pride wouldn't let her to.
The lost of her wand is akin to her losing part of her. Yet Hermione Granger knows that she isn't just giving up her wand but she was also giving her magic.
Yes she, Hermione Jean Granger is going to give her magic up as of September 20, 1998. She told herself, This is your final decision. You must to do this.
She stood motionlessly, infront Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley's pleading eyes not do such a rash decision.
Harry's voice broke through her train of thoughts. "You do know that you can't enter the wizarding world after you give this up right?" He questioned.
It sounded like a reasonable warning for those people who decided to give their magic up.
But it wasn't just a warning coming from Harry, there was an underlying tone of desperation and anxiousness in his words.
She nodded her head, knowing the seriousness of the situation.
She cried for many nights knowing that she is giving up practically everything she knows.
She walked towards them and hugged them tightly, I'm sorry.
They both kept silent, until Ron finally broke the silence said, "We'll miss you."
But she can't back out now, not like this. With all her courage, she turned and walked towards the auror with her wand.
It's goodbye for good.
Author's note: it came to my attention that people are asking why Hermione is giving her magic away. This took place after the war.
She chose to do so. Since this took place after war, despite the fact that the light side had won,the war left many traumatic scars everywhere. Upon seeing the deaths many people, like remus lupin, tonks, the weasley twins and so on. Seeing Mrs Weasley mourning over Fred and George deaths, kind of shakened her to the core. She realised the pain she was bringing to her parents. Don't forget the danger she had put upon on her parents when she joined Harry and the light side. Since the war is over, she would want nothing other than seeing her parents being safe and sound. Magic is like fire, a good servant but a bad master. Giving up magic might be terrible lost, but Hermione feels that it is worth it in exchange for peace in her life.
And for your information, when Hermione gives up her magic, it's mean that she can't go to diagon alley or places like that. But her memories are still intact, just that she can't use magic anymore. Her magic, as you called it, is actually just "sealed up". You can't exactly delete the magic that in you, so yes, there is a chance that Hermione might (just might) regain her magic again in the future.
I do have some ideas on continue this story, but I'm not entirely sure if I'm able to write a chaptered fic yet. Do make sure to R&R!
