Missing the Target
"We won!" Ron Weasley rushed into the Gryffindor common room, looking mighty please with himself. The rest of the team followed him in.
"He made some wicked awesome saves!" Harry Potter, the team captain said, obviously proud of his best mate.
Ron grinned sheepishly at his best friend, his ears reddening. Then, he rushed over to Hermione Granger, his other best friend. She was curled up in an arm chair, sleeping. She had not been able to make the match. Ron was disappointed, because he was secretly in love with her. But, for him, it was hard to stay mad at Hermione so he let it go.
Ron jerked Hermione out of sleep, saying, "Oi! Hermione!"
"Huhbawaja?" Hermione said sleepily, rubbing her tired eyes.
"We won, Hermione! We actually won!" Ron said, grinning at her.
Hermione sprang awake, and kissed Ron on the cheek. "Ron, that's awesome!"
Ron looked slightly put out, and Hermione didn't have the slightest clue why. Normally, Ron liked when she kissed him on the cheek. Her heart sunk. She knew that he'd never love her the way she loved him.
"Sorry," She muttered.
"No…you missed." Ron said simply, looking as green as a mint pie.
Hermione's heart skipped a beat. Could Ron have actually said it? Perhaps…?
"Wha-What?" Hermione stuttered.
"You missed," Ron said again, this time with more confidence. He had a blazing look in his eye, and before Hermione could take a breath, he kissed her, full on the lips.
Honestly, Hermione had never felt anything so wonderful in her entire life. Her whole body filled with a sort of warmth and contentment, she wanted to feint. She couldn't of course, because Ron's tongue was pushing into her mouth. After several moments of blissful kissing, they broke apart.
Ron was pleased to see that Hermione's grin was as big as his, if bigger, when they broke apart. He decided that now was the time to confess his feelings for her.
"I love you," Ron said, quietly.
Hermione looked lost for words. She probably was lost for words because she gave Ron a bone crushing hug before whispering back, "I've waited so long to her you say those words. I love you too, Ron."
Ron's face turned red as he laced his fingers through Hermione's. He helped her up, and escorted her out of the common room. He thought they would both fancy a walk.
