Within His Grasp

Bolin attracted a lot of women, pro-bending fans or not; everyone knew that. Besides, how could they not be attracted to him? He was a powerful Earthbender, fairly good looking, and a personality that welcomed everyone with his jokes and free-spirited attitude. (He also liked to call himself a matchmaker; but most of the people he knew would just shake their heads and slap their foreheads in response.)

He was able to make friends easily (an ability that Mako longed for), and befriending the Avatar was no different. Korra was a special, indeed, but she wasn't just the Avatar. She had a personality that seemed to fit in right with Bolin's, making them a duo that could entertain each other for hours on end. The two of them seemed to brighten up every room they walked into.

Little did he know that he would end up falling in love with her.

He didn't intend to fall in love with her in the first place. They were friends, seeing each other almost every day for training. It was nothing at first, but then he started to contemplate on what he could possibly be feeling for her.

Bolin knew she was different. Not because she was the Avatar, no. He thought of her as another girl, not just somebody who's going to save the world. Korra was beautiful, and actually wanted to be his friend, unlike most of the girls who knew. Most girls just wanted to be with Bolin because he was on the Fire Ferrets (and it would in turn give them some fame). But no, not Korra- she was caring, loving, and actually cared about what's on the inside.

Bolin loved how she never took criticism harshly; she took the criticism and made herself better. She was a natural at everything, making the toughest tasks seem like a breeze in the wind. Korra's headstrong mind made her all the more desirable- she never gave up, persistent to complete any task given to her. Her stubborn mind was what made Mako want to bang his head against the wall- but for Bolin, he saw it as another reason to love her.

He loved her voice; hearing it would make his feel instantly better. As soon as he heard her, everything else what instantly muted, and he would focus on just her.

He loved how she was so beautiful; her chocolate hair, her cobalt eyes, the muscular build (but she still looked feminine), her graceful movements, the way her lips would form a signature pout. Korra's perfect in every way.

He's fallen head over heels for her.

But it hurts him to know that he can't have her.

He's tried to shake off the pain; the pain of knowing he couldn't have her. Korra had told him that she liked Mako. His brother, Mako. Not him. Mako.

Out of all the women he could have, the only one he wanted was within his grasp. But even then, he had no chance.

They all slip away eventually.

A/N: Although I ship Makorra, I just had an idea for a fic, but it fit Borra more than it did Makorra.
