The Corpse That Is My Soul
Chapter de Uno
I hate the world, especially Muggles. I killed my cousin's girlfriend yesterday, with Avada Kedavra. Anyone with a low enough IQ to date Dudley should not exist in this world.
Now you are wondering why I have not killed any of the Dursleys. Well, it is dangerous to do so, since the Ministry of Magic will detect me. But Dudley's girlfriend lived on Fire Tree Lane, and next door was a witch called Grimbel. The Ministry will blame it on her. I can't wait to hear how she got sent to Azkaban.
My best friend, Draco Malfoy, had killed the stupid headmaster, Professor Dumbledore. Thank goodness he did; that old man was getting on my nerves.
Though I know I am fighting on the right side, putting Muggles and Mudbloods in their proper place, I fear that a girl named Daphne Greengrass will conquer the Dark Lady. She is a pureblood, true, but she is a blood traitor, and I don't think she's pleased at what She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named has done to her family.
Daphne was raised by Marlene McKinnon, after her blood-traitorous family denounced Lady Verdonne as a "wicked witch." Lady Verdonne went to kill the Greengrasses, and for good measure she tried to kill the baby. But her curse rebounded onto herself, and Daphne was left with this invidious scar…
Then the Dark Lady was missing from the scenes for nearly fourteen years. She's back now, but many of her Sweet Draags (followers) had thought she'd never return, and some befouled her name. She was merciless with these last, and they will never live again. I myself had the privilege of torturing Adam Nott, son of Ginevra Gable Nott, who called Lady Verdonne a "prissy old hag" in order to stay out of Azkaban. If she were still alive, I'm sure she'd regret it now.
I am now sixteen. Due to the murder of Dumbledore, the Malfoys have decided that it's time to send Draco to Durmstrang. I begged my parents to let me go too, and they agreed. Finally I'll be able to practice the Dark Arts instead of that shameful Defense rubbish at Hogwarts. Another thing that pleases me is that I'll never have to see my ex-girlfriend, Ginny Weasley, again.
After the murder, the Dark Lady branded me and Draco with an image that resembles her face. It shows her orange lips, her purple eyes, and her mouth turned into a luscious smile. I think I have a crush on her. I know she is thirty years my senior, but in her new revitalized body, she doesn't look that old. I will not tell Draco about my feelings for the Dark Lady, though. He feels bad about leaving Pansy Parkinson back at Hogwarts.
I did tell my mother that I like a girl much older than me. She told me, "Older women sometimes wish they could attract younger men. Maybe your darling will be one of them. She'd better be pure-blood, though."
I told her she was. Lady Verdonne at least professes to be pure-blood, even if she isn't.
I got a letter from Draco today. Here is what it said:
Dear Harry,
I can't wait to go to Durmstrang! Today, Mother and I went to Diagon Alley and bought my new Spell Books. One of them screamed when I opened it, and wouldn't stop screaming when I shut it. This is going to be much better than Hogwarts. Though I'll miss Professor Snape. And of course, Pansy. She fears I'll get a new girlfriend. As if. Of course, she doesn't know that the girl I really want is your mother. (Just kidding. But your mum is beautiful.)
Regards,
Draco
I quickly wrote a reply and sent it by owl post. Oh, this seventh year is going to be sweet! (I turn seventeen in ten days.)
