He walks against the harsh winter's cold,

yearning for her…searching for her...

She wanders through the hollows,

recalling memories of the Labyrinth,

and the day she met the Goblin King.

Fate has led her to where she is now.

It's been a long battle inside her.

Heart, mind, body & spirit…

There's no denying it now.

What she feels for him is love.

All the attempts she had made to forget him,

his eyes...his voice…his smile...his charms, all proved futile & useless.

He visited her in dreams.

And he, in turn, was enslaved by her.

She had tried, in desperation, to remind herself of his cruelty & haughtiness,

but was only reminded of her own cruelty toward him.

He had offered her his world, his life & will, unconditionally.

And she had denied him.

She had an obligation to her brother.

She knew that she & the child would have to return to their world,

leaving behind the Labyrinth & its King.

Her only wish now is to return to him, to return to her home.

Her home is where he is.

She pleads to the heavens that it is not too late to forgive & forget all that has passed.

She falls to the ground, dizzy with the thoughts that are dancing wildly in her head.

She cannot remember where she is or where she was going.

All she knows is that she wants to run & keep on running to a 'nowhere place,'

never looking back…never stopping…

Closing her eyes tightly, she clutches the damp, rich soil from the ground.

It seeps deep inside her palm & into her fingertips.

Lying on the earth, she sobs quietly in the dark of the night & quiet of the wood,

drifting into sleep…

Stillness…Darkness…

He stops, tired & weary.

He catches sight of a small, familiar-looking figure lying on the ground.

At once, he knows who this body belongs to.

Astounded & mesmerized, he wants to run to her.

He has found her. At last.

He cannot believe what he is seeing.

Having walked for so long, he fears this might be just another dream.

All he wants to do is comfort her, protect her, hold her in his arms & never let her go.

He kneels & leans in close to her,

slowly wrapping her in his cloak.

She stirs…

He runs the back of his gloveless hand gently across her soft cheek.

The feel of it, makes him anxious, she is very cold.

He embraces her tightly in his arms.

Slowly, she opens her eyes.

The night sky shows them brilliantly…emerald stars.

Without the least bit of hesitation,

she runs her fingers through his hair

and caresses his cheek, running them down to his lips…

"I've loved you all along," she says to him.

"And I you, Sarah," he returns.

He brushes his lips tenderly above hers for a moment.

Then, he finally consummates their love with a deep, passionate, longing kiss.
