Summary: Zechs reflects on his life in a blizzard.
Staring out the bay window into a winter wonderland, Zechs Marquise looked ever the brooding and saddened prince. His blue eyes lost in the swirls of snow that blanketed his former kingdom. Although he no longer was master of the land, those who lived within the kingdom still treated him with respect. It was because of them that he had this house, nay mansion, nestled high in the Sanc mountains. Far away from the reminders of civilization it held within it years of family secrets and memories.
Watching the swirling weather the young prince's thoughts began to wander back to a time before he had this place. To a time when he met a magnificent man, one who captured a heart he though was made of ice and proved it to be of fire. With a single touch of his fingers the pilot had stunned him. He had stood in the rain for hours after shocked at the warmth filling his veins. That simple touch as 02 placed his number in the prince's palm had shaken him more than anything he could remember. He barely noticed the rain that pelted at his body as he watched the manhole the pilot had disappeared into.
Too afraid to call the other man, Zechs would not see him until the day the snow fell. A day much like this when the man had warmed him with his eyes and promises of so much more. Duo had pulled him into a small coffee shop in the back streets of Sanc's capital and told him to warm himself by the fire. Zechs had stood frozen too afraid to move and break the spell on his mind by this perfect creature. Later he would notice the apron and flour in 02's hair. Later he would notice the piercing purple decor so much like the mans eyes, but at that moment he saw nothing but the snow and violet pools deeper than he had ever imagined possible.
Still staring at the snow the prince came back to the present warmed by the familiar feeling of Duo's arms around him. Had there been anyone around they would have said his expression softened as he felt the presence of his lover, his husband, and his soul mate.
"Thinking of that day again Zechsy?" Duo whispered in his ear while nuzzling his platinum hair and breathing deep. "I was too... That's why I came to find you. I love you."
Zechs straightened and looked his lover in the eye. "And I love you Duo... Forever and eternity my missing half" Zechs allowed a smile to steal across his face as he was held by all he ever wanted in life.
