I stared at the burning building in front of me. How could this be happening? Are any of us safe? No, of course were weren't. Our bloody school was almost in ashes. Even I didn't think He would burn a school full of innocent witches for no apparent reason but to cause chaos. I blinked away tears as I tried to comfort the younger girls. Many were crying and begging to go home to their families and just be safe; it took everything I had to not join them. Instead of mentally breaking down, I focused on helping them safely into the carriages before they had to witness the complete destruction of their home. Once everyone was on board Mme Maxime called out to all of the prefects, telling them to get into the carriage. When I entered I took a breath of relief, only to be suffocated by the confusion, despair, and fear radiated from the whole carriage. I did my best to straighten out my scorched soot ridden blue uniform and prepare myself for what was coming. Many of the prefects immediately took off to check on friends, siblings, and first years. I heard the click of the door lock behind me and the rumble of the carriage taking off. With one last lingering glance at ashes, the unrecognizable rubble that had been my home for the past six years, my fear was quickly replaced with burning anger.
