A Night Among The Stars
Deanna Troi and William Riker sat at the edge of a pond on the planet Batezed and talked briefly of the things they would have to do when they got back on the Enterprise. All of a sudden Will turned to Deanna and looked at her as though it was the first time he had seen her. Deanna (feeling nervous) cautiously backed away from her companion. "Deanna as long as I have known you have I ever given you a reason to be frightened of me?" Will asked his eyes searching for an answer in hers. "No" came her less than confident reply. "Then why do you back away from me why do you run in fear every time I get near you?" He whispered in her ear. She gave no answer. But being the person he was Riker was not going to give up on this without a fight she had been ignoring him ever since he had gotten on board the Enterprise and now that they were on vacation he had foolishly assumed she would talk to him as more of a person than as a Starfleet officer but he had been wrong...dead wrong.
