Silent Melody
In the palace gardens, Ryuuki comes to a halt. He looks up at the brilliant moon in the jewel-laden night sky. Even though Shuurei was far away, in the Sa Province, he could tell. The soft breeze makes no sound but its own, yet he can feel it. The wind was carrying Shuurei's gentle erhu playing to him. He sighs in contentment. Even though she wasn't with him, the music would, in some way or another.
In his heart, he wonders whether she'll ever love him, but he contents himself. Patience wasn't a particular strong point of his. He loves her silent melodies though. The very soul of her music in his soul and heart calms him. Even though the sound itself is silent, he's happy that he has such a strong connection to her. It amazes him that love can draw up connections where there wouldn't normally be ones.
The playing changes and he can tell that it's near the end. He savours the feeling as much as he can; trying to draw out the emotions for longer. Of course, the end comes eventually, and he's forced to part with the emotions. However, he's still smiling. He can always rely on the next night, and the early morning. Every time she plays, the silent melody soothes his soul and heart.
"Ah, maybe when you return," Ryuuki sighs, smiling.
Author's Note: Hi, I hope you enjoyed that. It's a nice, short story that doesn't take up too much time.
If you decide to review, please don't be mean. This story means an awful lot to me. Thank you for reading!
