Artemis couldn't believe what was happening.
Wally's death had been so sudden. It's not like he died of a natural cause. Maybe if he had, it would be easier to deal with.
Dick had been coming to check on Artemis, sometimes he would find her before she got the courage to kill herself. But that was what she wanted; to be with Wally again.
So why was it so hard?
She was going crazy… maybe that was normal. Who could stay sane if you lost the only thing that mattered to you? The only thing that helped you get passed problems? Who could stand to lose the father of their unborn child?
Yes, Artemis was pregnant.
And to make things worse, she found the engagement ring
He had been hiding it with his parents to make sure she didn't find it when she returned from the undercover mission.
It was funny when you thought about: Wally had been afraid of losing her, when it was him that she lost.
Why had he gone?
He had just zipped out, without telling anyone what he was going to do.
He had to know that he would be the weak link compared to Flash and Impulse.
The chemicals he had used in the Kid Flash experiment weren't as strong as the ones Flash used and Impulse was born with his speed.
Maybe that's why he hadn't told Artemis what he going to do. It was a suicidal decision.
Or maybe it was that he was smart enough to know that he would really die? Maybe he really wasn't dead?
But it that were the case, why didn't he tell her? Perhapes he didn't know?
But then again, Wally's known for not making the wisest choices. Like when he put on the Doctor Fate helmet.
A weak smile crept to Artemis' face as she remembered Kent Nelson.
He told Wally to find his own Spitfire.
If it weren't for Kent and Inza, Wally nor Artemis never would've thought they could stand to live in the same house. Or be the same room.
But yet, she was pregnant and had lived with him for almost 5 years.
